Theodore W. Dollar
Born: 4 January 1875 Died: 1958
The fourth child born to W. T. and Mary Adeline Dollar, Theodore was born at the beginning of 1875. A sister, Elie, had died five months earlier, and by the end of the year, Theodore would be the only child living. Theodore’s family allotments were in the northwestern part of the Miami lands, but they resided north of the Kansas border near Chetopa. Around the turn of the century, Theodore married Avis Byers. Together, they had four children: Mary Elizabeth, Francis T., Thomas Woodrow, and Bert Glen Dollar. The family moved to Enid, Oklahoma, and later Tulsa, and lived in California for many years but Theodore moved back home after separating from his wife. Upon his return, he served as a Tribal Councilperson in 1938, while the Tribe was in the process of creating and approving the first Tribal Constitution. Many of Theodore’s descendants still live in California and other parts of the West Coast.
